Some time ago Jim West held a desktop picture challenge where people where encouraged to post screen shots of their computer desktop. I keep my computer desktop free of clutter; everything is put away nice and neatly. However, the same cannot be said for my actual desk top!
I thought it would be fun to take a picture of your actual physical desk top and post it on your blog and then post a link in the comments section of this post as a way of getting to know other bloggers and their workspace. The one I have provided is from home and was taken in the midst of finishing a paper so it displays the desk in “full use” as one might say.

Well I’m shocked. There are two VERY important people missing from your space. Take down that old man and put up those two beautiful girls in your life!
Why have you got two dirty cups? I do like your bookstand though. I want one…

Is that Bauckham JSTEs third from the left? My screen is a bit small…

Ah the bookstand – That was a long time coming and then I managed to score two thanks to one of those beautiful ladies. I have pics of them at work – This is my home desk and they are usually in the next room.
“Why have you got to dirty cups” Firstly, you sound like Beck and secondly it was 9:30am in the morning
Bauckham is the second from left – NT Wright is next to him and Witherington after that. Most of my books are at work. That is my reading for enjoyment pile!!!

Ah – I meant second from the left – I have just realised the end thing (which I thought was a Bible) is a bookend.
Beck of course has impeccable taste but you regrettably don’t – except of course in regard to Beck – but you’d expect me to say that
BTW time of day is no excuse for TWO dirty cups. Bad boy
I do like that bookrest…
Beautiful desk too. Looks like Rimu but it can’t be…

Is that a Jesus action figure standing behind your stapler? Please tell me I’m only dreaming…

It is a Rev Lovejoy! Until recently it had Bono’s head on it (my daughter got a hold of it). One of my good friends does have a Jesus action figure though. I think it is commando Jesus (read into that what you will

One thing that bothers me with all these desks is the lack of natural light. My desk is always by a window and when in the Antipodes, it basks in sunlight. Perhaps it has something to do with preferring the outdoors… I’m also surrounded by gods of other religious traditions – I collect figurines. And I have lots of bright colours around me too. My desk is also much bigger and much tidier than any of the ‘man desks’ I’ve seen.

well, I have it Steph,. I just took the pic at night. In the day I open up the blinds and let in some light. Did you see Ken’s desk, he has lots of natural light (C. Orthodoxy site).

Same, My desk looks out onto my beautiful garden. My pic too was taken at night (I lied about the time to cover my sloppy drinking habits). My work desk is next to a large window.

Ah thanks for that – I can breathe again… I was beginning to suffocate! Indoor plants is another must. You two should take day shots. When I move to the tropics, I’m having a desk set up under a coconut palm on the beach…

I’m not sure how to go about leaving a link to a post as my name – like some of the guys above – but below is the address to my work/blog space. Not quite as nice as my study at church, but it works.

Steph, I have a nice big window to the left of my desk, and my photo was taken in the morning. You can see the direction of the light by the shadows leaning to the right. The only other light source in my office is my desk lamp. I also love natural light.
Did I miss your desk, or have you not posted it yet?
